Heart to Heart: A Positive Parenting Program is the newest program for families at SLP.  Through community partners and existing parenting programs, SLP will administer a weekly program aimed at improving relationships between parents and children, and in turn improving outcomes for children.  School readiness and success, along with a healthy parental relationship can make all the difference for our children.

PHLYTE Program for SLP Teens

Beginning the first week of January, the teens living at St. Lawrence Place had an opportunity to participate in the PHLYTE Program (Pressley House Leading Youth Towards Excellence), an Evidence-Based Intervention that will reduce the risk of HIV, STDs and Teen Pregnancy. The initiative was led by Ms. Dwiyana Owens Hill, Founder and CEO of The Pressley House, a boarding home for teen mothers here in Columbia.

Race for the Place 5K this Saturday!

There is still time to register to run or walk this awesome-ly flat and fast course in Columbia, SC!  This event is family-friendly, including a Kids Fun Run, including goody bags and medals for all kids.  Plus, chicken, bagels, and other goodies after the race from PDQ Columbia, EarthFare Columbia,  and Panera Bread!

Ground Breaking for New Affordable Housing in Columbia!

On January 22nd, 2014, Trinity Housing Corporation (THC) broke ground on Live Oak Place in Columbia, SC.  Live Oak Place is going to be 4 new affordable housing units for families, located next door to St. Lawrence Place, THC’s existing transitional housing program for homeless families.
