From Homeless to Home

Going from being homeless to finding a stable and permanent home, can be one of the most difficult and challenging experiences a family can face.  St. Lawrence Place is a program where families are provided with structure, guidance, support and with the necessary life skills to become self-sufficient during and after their participation in the program.  Over the years, SLP staff has kept in touch with families who have completed the program.  If they choose, former participants can join the St. Lawrence Place Alumni Association.  St. Lawrence Place is proud to introduce two families that completed the program and made a transition from being homeless to become a homeowner.

Jessica’s Journey

Jessica Dillard came to SLP in November 2009 with her daughter after she had been moving from house to house.   She was anxious, nervous, and frustrated that life choices and decisions that she made led her to SLP.  According to Jessica, “I had burned every bridge that there was with family and friends. I was homeless with a three year old and had nowhere to go.  I was trying to rebuild the little life that I had left but the struggles had become so big that I considered suicide as my final option.  In my quest trying to salvage my life and provide for my child, I came across St. Lawrence Place”.
