Race for the Place 5K & Fun Run Wrap-Up (Pictures)!

A huge thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and participants that made the 2013 Race for the Place such a success.  We had over 330 participants in the 5k and Fun Run!  We also had a couple former SLP residents participate, as well as some current SLP residents and children.

Kids Create: Animation at Columbia Museum of Art

As part of an on-going partnership with the Columbia Museum of Art, the teens living at St. Lawrence Place visited the museum in January and created cartoons with Sanford Greene.

Mr. Greene has worked on animation projects for the last 10 years with movies, short films, and comic books and he is an art professor at Benedict College.  The teens created their own animation and character, and Mr. Greene signed copies of his comic books for them.

New Shoes for Kids from Payless ShoeSource

St. Lawrence Place was awarded 50 shoe certificates from Payless ShoeSource through their annual Payless Shoes 4 Kids program. This is the 4th year we have been honored to receive these certificates, which allow all of the children and teens living at SLP to receive brand new shoes for free.

A Success Story and A Cake

Dominica has been a resident at St. Lawrence Place since February 2012.  She is approaching the one year mark and has been making great progress towards her goals.  One of Dominica’s major goals was to earn a certificate from Midlands Technical College’s cake decorating program.
