Kids Create: Science & Music Fun!

Posted by: Becca Smith Hill

For over 6 years now, USC Masters Level Science students have been coming to St. Lawrence Place to provide an after school science program called Science Quest.  This inquiry-based program incorporates hands-on experiments to get the kids excited about Science!

Communities in Harmony, a musical group of volunteers from USC, visits twice monthly to teach the kids about music and instruments.

The first session of the semester took place back in February.  Here’s a clip of the kids coloring and personalizing their “experiment aprons” and one of the kids and the Communities in Harmony mentors playing with their newly-created music shakers.

This post is part of an on-going series of St. Lawrence Place kid-created and kid-focused content, published every Thursday.

Thank…all of you!

Someone gave me a compliment in our board meeting yesterday. What he said is irrelevant, but I can tell you it made me feel good. I called my husband and two friends on the way back to the office! Maybe that’s just human nature… we all have the need to hear we’re doing a good job every now and then.
