Mrs. Kathy Hiller, a former SLP intern, and a member of community service group Sisters Helping Sisters had a similar idea, so we joined forces to host our first ever pre-mother’s day program! Along with being treated to a catered meal and receiving gifts, the ladies were encouraged and informed by Dr. Jacquetta M. Chatman, Chairman/CEO of Mothers of Black Boys (MOBB).
Dr. Chatman is a former public school educator and is dedicated to the educational achievement of minority children. Many of the residents indicated that they enjoyed the program and as a result, plan to enroll their children into various mentoring programs. Dr. Chatman also stressed the importance of parents visiting their children’s schools and keeping an open relationship with their teachers.
The program was a huge success and we could not have pulled it off without Mrs. Hiller of Sisters Helping Sisters and Dr. Chatman. We are already looking forward to next years’ event. Below are some of the pictures from our event.
