Last Friday, September 20th was the fifth United Way Day of Action I helped coordinate at St. Lawrence Place. We hosted a group of nearly 40 volunteers from Intel. These incredibly generous volunteers in blue arrived in 2 groups to paint the porches of our residents’ homes. The morning shift was busy working hard as media crews came and went. Check out The State newspaper article spotlighting the Day of Service, Intel and St. Lawrence Place.
Intel volunteers completed a total of 10 porches that day and there was still time to share popsicles and play games with the children living at SLP. But the fun did not end there, Intel Coordinator, Brenda Littleton, had the wonderful idea to include Pawley’s Front Porch food truck in this community service opportunity. Pawley’s Food Truck pulled up to the playground around 4:30 that afternoon to feed the children, teens and adults living at St. Lawrence Place.
This day will be remembered by not only the staff of SLP, but also our families as a great day in our community. Intel clearly understands St. Lawrence Place is more than a homeless shelter, we are a community. With your support we will continue to provide a safe, enriching community where our families are given the skills they need to be successful members of society.
Thank you Intel and United Way for your continued support of St. Lawrence Place!
