SLP Teens Giving Back

Posted by: Adrian Addison

Greetings from the Teen Program! The teens are enjoying some down time since the conclusion of the school year. Though the summer is not all fun in the sun time, our teens have been volunteering at various organizations throughout the Midlands. This past Friday, they had the opportunity of working for a wonderful organization, the Harvest Hope Food Bank (HHFB).

Here are our teens are listening to one of the volunteer coordinators as she discusses how the Harvest Hope Food Bank operates. The teens learned information not only about HHFB operations, but also how the non-profits work together in the Midlands to help people in need.

This photo shows one of our teens working on the assembly line. Here the teens are working with other volunteers to fill boxes with pasta, milk, proteins, and juice. Later these boxes will go out to people in need. During this volunteer session over 200 boxes were filled.

For our upcoming community service project, we will be conducting a Car Wash here at St Lawrence this coming Friday, July 17th, between 9 am and Noon. The proceeds from the Car Wash will go to support activities and events for the Teen Program. We look forward to seeing everyone come to support our teens.
